It was only a matter of time. First Biggie, then movie, Notorious writer Cheo Hodari Coker has been tapped to write the screenplay to Bill Adler’s book “Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-DMC — The Authorized Biography.” Adler was Run DMC’s former publicist.

Similar to Notorious, which was actually also written from the adaptation of a book the Coker wrote about Biggie, Tougher Than Leather (not the official movie title) will explore the rags to riches story of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizel and how they ushered hip-hop into mainstream popular culture.

Movie will be produced by Dallas Jackson who is currently working on the remake of THE LAST DRAGON with The RZA and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Fearless 4s first jam was on Enjoy records..." Its Magic " (1981) was an instant classic , but the follow up - 1982s " Rockin It " was the one to put them on the map . The record was ..1 on Frankie Crockers WBLS...a NY station that didnt play much rap before Mr Magic.Rockin It lifted a classic break from Kraftwerk and mixed the magic of Enjoys house band ; for a classic that is still sampled and cut today . After the brief stay at Enjoy , the Four signed with Elektra and released the " Just Rock " 12" which included "Gotta Turnout" . Just Rock was a redo of Gary Numans pop hit " Cars " . The real bomb was dropped in ' 83 with the " Problems Of The World " Ep . Classic material !!!! The title track was similar in subject to the Message , but not as harsh . It covered subjects like child abuse , stress filled relationships and computers causing layoffs . " Fearless Freestyle " showed off the raw talents of the crew especially frontman D.LB...." Back bone of the team and I will make you scream , versatile as the thing they call ice cream...in a bowl , on a cone , ala mode.... all alone / slow rhymes and funky beats on the microphone " . Easily a contender with todays so called thugs . F - 4000 was a vocorder ( computer voice ) jam produced by Davy DMX ( actually the whole ep was ) . Problems was one of few rap songs at the time that had a video . After that single they signed to Tuff City and released " Dedication " ...a harmonizing joint dedicated to their fans. In the late 80s they released " After Tonight " on Mercury Records . O.C. and Krazy Eddie had succsess in the mid 80s with " Masters Of The Scratch " and " Private Lessons " . Peso did some solos as well . The 4 were featured on the Raiders of the lost art lp in the mid 90s . Tito has worked with the Terror Squad and Kool G. Rap.

Legendary rapper Rakim has confirmed the forthcoming release of his highly anticipated third solo LP, The Seventh Seal, which will be released independently through his own Ra Records imprint on Tuscan Villa and SMC Recordings.
The album, which will be distributed via Fontana/Universal Music Group, is set to hit stores on November 17, just two weeks shy of the ten year anniversary of his last release, The Master.
While the new album stays true to Rakim’s New York roots, the Microphone Fiend has reached out to several newer producers to provide a more contemporary backdrop for his legendary lyricism, creating an album that brings together the best of regional, underground and mainstream sounds.

In addition to musical contributions by Needlz, Nottz, Jake One, Nick Wiz and Ty Fiffe, Rakim has brought together an impressive group of guests on the album, including his daughter Destiny Griffin.
Also appearing on the album are Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Maino, and Styles P, to name a few.
“When you’ve been blessed with a career like mine, you develop a deep relationship with the music,” Rakim told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “That love is recognized by the true heads that share it with you. The Seventh Seal is my own revelation, my way of taking the best of what Hip-Hop has to offer, what we as a culture and a community have to offer, putting my stamp on it and leading us forward while constantly respecting what we’ve already accomplished.
“You’ll see us keep building as we break through each Seal, showing the best of what I can do in many forms, bringing the energy and having fun. But first I’m laying that foundation and giving my longtime fans the conscious fire they expect.”
With a discography that spans two decades and includes four groundbreaking, classic albums as part of the duo Eric B. & Rakim and two previous solo, Rakim has still managed to mark a career milestone with The Seventh Seal.
